IMAGINEERING MONSTER MAKE-UP DOCUMENTARY

Imagineering! from David Hansen-Sturm on Vimeo.

It made the rounds a while ago but somehow I neglected to post this amazing mini-documentary on the Imagineering Halloween make-up company. One of my favorite experiences while researching Mail-Order Mysteries, was talking with Larry Liff the founder of the company and inventor of plastic fangs! Watch the video to hear him discuss the genesis of the company and a time when fake vampire blood was assumed to be deadly.

Awesome! Thanks for posting this one KD! I think I've personally owned about 100 pairs of vampire teeth myself.

I'm lucky enough to have the Vampire Blood and the Fangs (still in the original Packages) in my collection. Would love to find more!

Thanks for posting? Does anyone know anything else about the illustrator for these products? I'm not sure on the spelling, and couldn't locate him on google. "Gordon Viges"?

Thanks in advance!

This is what got me started. At 51 I have only worked maybe a total of 2 years outside of the arts. Thank you so much Larry. Your autograph is a treasured possession. Changed my life

Hello! These products were such an important part of my childhood. I always had a tube of the vampire blood year round. Your father’s work was a hugely important part of those products appeal. Just wanted you to know many many people, especially of my generation, recall his work fondly!

Do you own any original art from that time period? Or material related to those products?

Best,
Kirk
