IT'S TOXIE (SAFE AND NON-TOXIC)

A while back, I unexpectedly found this Toxic Avenger figure inside a bag of Halloween-themed dollar store toys. As consumers, we expect the highest level of competency from those who manufacture the goods we buy, and yet if the makers of this particular bagged assortment of toys had any standards whatsoever they probably wouldn't have tossed a licensed toy like Toxie into the mix alongside the generic gargoyles and haunted trees.. and I would have been far less delighted.

My wife has informed me that nobody is going to 'get' the fact that this post is playing off the last post in a jokey fashion, and that everyone will think it's a foolish mistake.
I say that in truth it is possibly the greatest creative act that I have ever performed. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

wow. I feel like one of the voices in your head as you mulled over which photo to choose for this entry. It's almost like that previous entry never happened.

Tell your wife I smiled when I saw this post, before I read your comment. So, on some level the joke got through.

I still want to know about those haunted trees and gargoyles.

THANK YOU John. You deserve volumes of information on those haunted trees and gargoyles.
Well, first off, my post is somewhat deceptive in that the bag of toys was actually purchased in the late 1990s. Be it known that I have little to say that is of relevance to our modern lives. So even if they were the most fantastic gargoyles ever.. one would be hard pressed to find another bag even on ebay. The good news is that they were quite crappy. I was initially enticed by the fact that it was technically a set of "monster" toys that consisted of mummies, ghouls, and yes, gargoyles and haunted trees, but the designs were just bad all around. They didn't have any "classic" qualities and the haunted trees didn't even have faces. The set had an unavoidable 1990s feel. Even the colors of the plastic were lousy (dark purple, pine green) so I ended up keeping toxie and giving the rest to good will.
Sorry to get your hopes up.
Believe me, if I see any good Halloween finds this year, you will be the first to know.

It's all a disastrous failure.
