GOING BICOASTAL

While my S.S. Adams book is typically sold in magic shops, I think it's super neat that the few comic book retailers who are clued in on it seem to be among the coolest in the nation. My thanks to Mark Newgarden for pointing out that Brooklyn's new Desert Island comics is one of them...

and note the fully stocked S.S. Adams 24 peg rack. Now that's classy.

The view out their front window

It looks and sounds like a labor of comic love; a place I'd wish to find myself on a Saturday afternoon after payday. (They were also nice enough to make Secret Fun Spot a link of the week.)

And when you're on the left coast and in desperate need of sequential art, stroll into L.A.'s Secret Headquarters for an atmosphere more akin to Wayne Manor than the bat cave...

Stunning, no? Check out their blog for events and other secret stuff.

A hearty thank you to Desert Island and Secret Headquarters for seeing fit to peddle my wares. 'Tis an honor to be inside your walls. (Um, not in a Sheena Easton sort of way.)

I'm guessing the Batpoles are behind the bookcases on the left...& they're activated by the yellow smiley-face. ;>

The Secret Stash is a great shop to visit - worth searching for parking in Westwood.

I did see your book prominently displayed at Secret Headquarters the one time I visited.

I would call before heading out to Secret Stash West - last I heard they had closed the doors and moved in to a DVD/video game store down the street.

stiiv- that would be so cool if they installed a secret passage and left it open just a little bit.

voncheech- yes I've enjoyed forbidden planet in NYC. I'll never forget finding Chip Kidd's Batman Collected there really cheap due to a ripped cover. I have yet to experience meltdown or the stash.

fcg- thanks for the on site report. Until now I've had no way to verify that they're not lying about carrying the book. :)

anonymous- seems like the DVD/Video game route is the only way a lot of record/comic stores can survive. Sad, but at least they're still around in some form.

Hmm - I go to Secret HQ a lot, but I've never seen it look as great as it does in that top photo.

hmmm, maybe it's because your eyes aren't capable of overexposure. Or maybe they're living a lie! I've still never been there so It's good to know.
