Several of the original gags from the defunct Phantasmagoria dark ride of Tulsa, Oklahoma (which I have covered extensively) have been reinstalled at Trimper's Haunted House in Ocean City, Maryland! Both dark rides were designed by the legendary Bill Tracy so they couldn't have found a better home. The entire renovation process is lovingly detailed on the Ocean City Haunted House web site (warning: graphic images). The care, enthusiasm and investment behind this project is the reason Trimper's Haunted House is among the best dark rides in the nation.
It's nice to see the skull-faced green woman (who's partner's picture I used for another in a seemingly endless parade of bad jokes on my comedy site) has gotten herself back into the open. Hit my site and look at April 28th (posting links on others sites is in bad form.)
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a replica of that stunt. While your house is full of comic book ad minutia, mine is full of skulls, skeletons, and witches -- she'd fit right in!
It's cool to see these posts on Phantsmagoria. I grew up in Tulsa and loved this ride as a kid. I live close to Maryland now so I will have to visit Ocean City to see what they did with the props from the Phantasmagoria.
ReplyDeleteDo not forget Monster Cafe Saltillo is pretty cool too!
