Feel free to check it out at

http://theafternoontide.blogspot.com/2011/10/my-halloween-story-part-one.html

It kind of ties in with some of your stuff. It is on...Thanks for your great piece on Rock City. It is one of my all-time favourite places because it is the focus of so many great childhood memories. For as far back as I can remember, my family used to go there at least once every few years. As an adult I continue that tradition and plan another trip there as soon as the weather cools a bit. I will no doubt force myself across the "swing-a-long" bridge even each time I swear it's my last!

Do you remember when they would attach a Rock City metal bumper sticker type thing to your car while you were in the gardens? My mom would be so mad because she didn't leave the car sun-visor in the down position indicating a big "no, thank you" to the RC employees. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24558766.post-1153422163573391962006-07-20T14:02:00.000-05:002006-07-20T14:02:00.000-05:00Thanks Sarah. Unfortunately I never got to visit.

If you haven't had a chance - check out Neil Gaiman's American Gods. It features a battle between the Gods at Rock City. He describes the place as one of America's Sacred points. I visited both when I was six, during a move from Atlanta to Tulsa. I have only vague, creepy memories of the black-light displays, but I clearly remember walking through the "fat-man's squeeze". We also hit Stone Mountain, during the time they were carving the Robert E Lee image on the side.

The were good times! and I loved the entry!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
